@tiraofegypt: How tall were the ancient Egyptians? The answer might surprise you. Around 5,000 years ago, during Egypt's Early Dynastic Period, the average man stood about 5 feet 6 inches (168 cm), while the average woman measured around 5 feet 2 inches (157 cm). That's much closer to modern averages than many people expect. Height varied depending on nutrition, health, and social status. Wealthier Egyptians often had access to better diets and easier living conditions, while common laborers faced disease, famine, and physically demanding work. Even Ramesses II, one of Egypt's greatest pharaohs, is estimated to have stood around 5 feet 9 inches (175 cm), and some early Egyptian rulers may have exceeded 6 feet (183 cm). Ancient Egyptians weren't unusually short. Many were remarkably similar in height to people living today. #AncientEgypt #Egypt #History #AncientHistory #RamessesII #Archaeology #EgyptianHistory #Anthropology
