Miu looked thoughtful. "I don't really care if it's noisy or quiet." "No?" She looked down at Lena with gentle eyes. "As long as it feels safe." Lena's expression grew warm. "It will." "And..." Miu hesitated. "I want them to grow up knowing they can become whoever they want." "No expectations." "No impossible standards." "No carrying the weight of a family name." Lena listened quietly. "I want them to climb trees." "Get muddy." "Learn how to cook." "Visit your parents." "Steal fruit from your father's orchard." Lena laughed. "He'll probably help them." "He absolutely will." "And your mother will pretend to scold them while secretly giving them more." "That is exactly what she'd do." Miu smiled to herself. "I want them to know both worlds." "The city." "The countryside." "Boardrooms." "Rice fields." "So they'll understand that every person deserves the same respect." Lena felt her heart swell. "You've thought about this." "Only tonight." "I don't believe you." Miu laughed softly. "Maybe...a little longer." Lena reached up and gently brushed a strand of hair behind Miu's ear. "I don't know what our future looks like." "Neither do I." "But..." She squeezed Miu's hand. "...I know I want you in it." Miu's eyes shimmered. "You always know the right thing to say." Lena grinned. "I also wanted to name our future dog Judge." "So my judgment isn't perfect." Miu laughed again, leaning down to kiss Lena's forehead. Outside, the rain continued to fall. Inside, the apartment felt warm. For two women whose lives had always been planned by schedules, expectations, and responsibilities, talking about an uncertain future should have been frightening. Instead, it felt comforting.
