@tinythebullarab: 🚂 5 LOCOMOTIVES! 20,000 HORSEPOWER ATTACKING THE INFAMOUS CALLINGTON CURVE! 🤯🔥 #trains #australia One of the craziest freight trains I've ever filmed. I was waiting for this Perth bound monster after hearing it had picked up a FIFTH locomotive at Tailem Bend. Suddenly this wasn't just another freight train. It became a five locomotive diesel-electric giant producing close to 20,000 horsepower and around 15 megawatts of power. Stretching roughly 1.7 kilometres long and weighing close to 5,000 tonnes, this beast attacked the legendary Callington Curve in full Notch 8. My camera position couldn't have been better. I was standing high on a cutting, almost level with the locomotive exhausts as they thundered underneath before grinding around the steep curved grade. You can literally hear the locomotives fighting for every metre of track as traction computers constantly adjust power to stop wheel slip. Running a train like this isn't cheap. ⛽ Fuel can exceed $10,000 for a Perth to Adelaide run. 👨🔧 Maintenance across five locomotives adds thousands more. 🛤️ Track access charges, servicing, inspections, logistics and crew wages push the operating cost of a single journey into the tens of thousands of dollars. And that's exactly why rail remains Australia's freight backbone. The full 6-minute cinematic version is now on YouTube! #FreightTrain #AustralianTrains #Railfans

it is kinda funny. over here across the pond in Canada, CN rail aims for trains to average 12000ft, or about 3.7km. they spread the engines out through the train, and I think they are quite a bit bigger than those guys.

Mate, you need to set up a small table with a glass of water on it…. To give us a perspective of the vibration 🤞🏻🫡

What's the biggest freight train you've ever seen? 🚂 Would you rather stand beside it... or be driving one of those five locomotives? Let me know below! 👇
