This is actually sustainable and quality thinking. We’ve all seen the videos of the new builds and reno’swith shotty work and cut corners - you’re raising the bar! Nicely done!

The plumbers who did my mates house had the same perspective, “just slap it in, it’s storm water”, well after every massive rain event, their backyard is a bog pit because the gradient is fuck all and blocks like fuck. But hey…. Pay peanuts, what do you expect.

everything you've said is 100% correct. however, a roof that small aint catching much water. not gonna be much worse than if there was no roof and the water was just hitting the concrete and flowing back into the grass. not many people would bother overengineering this.

I've been having that charge pipe backup problem with blockages since I had my rainwater to tank pipes fitted, the plumber that did the work just flushes it and leaves and it blocks up again every year. I will be fitting those rain head things you pictured. Appreciate your videos mate and kudos on doing the right thing not the easy thing.

not Australian, but what about a rubble pit (or some pit, that is toward the actual discharge) that has a higher discharge and goes into the actual drain. Aka, you drop to the pit, and then the high discharge goes into the actual storm main, so it doesn't flood... Nevermind, just got to the part where you said it's an option lol

Hey mate would a sump with a pump and swing check valve work? The sump would fill up then pump out, once emptied the swing check valve would close so any flat or back falling stormy would just sit and not flow back into the rear section you’re picking up
