On human maps this reads like a postal address but each layer spans vastly different sizes and timescales (AU for Solar System, ~100,000 light-years for the Milky Way, tens to hundreds of millions of light-years for superclusters). Intergalactic scales (millions of light-years), use the Local Group and nearby galaxy clusters (Andromeda, Triangulum) as coarse landmarks, then Laniakea/Virgo supercluster filamentary structure to narrow region. But galaxy motions and rotation mean stars’ positions change over these times, so light you see is ancient and reconstruction becomes increasingly uncertain.
