it’s been like this for years. while incel does quite literally stand for involuntarily celibate, the community has been known for harboring misogynistic views since its inception.. the incel label is always gonna be associated with misogyny since the two have almost always been practically synonymous (or just intertwined. so much so that anything you see / hear about the “incel ideology” will always include extreme misogyny). you don’t have to associate with the label at all. it’s always had this specific connotation. it’s not society misinterpreting what it means to be involuntarily celibate / forcing the misogynistic label on men who are involuntarily celibate.. it’s quite literally a result of the incel community’s own actions lol. don’t align with very typical “incel” ideologies? just don’t call yourself that. don’t see why it matters atp
