It's nice that it's basically pronounced like "nay," the old English "no," still sometimes used. Weirdly "namae" is also strangely similar to the English "name," but I'm not sure that's a loan word. Anyway last night, looking for things to watch on Netflix, I saw the anime One Piece's preview, where Luffy says "ore namae wa..." but he pronounced it like "nama," not "namae." Pronunciation as usual is confusing with Japanese in these "small" ways. Sure, speaking it to others, it would be clear enough what's intended, but I don't like such sources of confusion.
