One time, I had a patient in the OR who was getting ready for a C-section. The operating room door kept opening, closing, then reopening and closing again, all on its own. The patient looked over at the door and said, “Mom, can you stop? You’re freaking everybody out.” As soon as she said that, the door shut and didn’t open again. Every staff member in the room looked at each other in complete shock. The patient then told us that her mother had passed away a few months earlier, but had always promised she would be there for the birth of her grandchild.
