I unfortunately feel like there was nothing clever about how this character was written. Its a inconsistent character that serves whatever they needed in certain parts of the film. good or bad , supportive or villain? Just my opinion. Entertaining film overall.

I think they are all evil, Sarah knows about Ian and Nikki's relationship but she chooses to remain silent, Ian is also like what you explained, Bear is also the same, he is too obsessed with his love-

This is wrong, Ian was a normal guy who had a casual relationship with Nikki and knew that’s all it was so he encouraged his friend to date her, and was concerned about Nikki because they were close friends and noticed her odd behavior.
