I’m huge on authenticity. I’d rather someone be honest about who they are and keep all the bullshit aside. I don’t need you to be nice, polite, agreeable, or constantly considerate. Just be you. I can get along with a lot of different kinds of people when I know what I’m actually dealing with. What I won’t do is spend my energy constantly reassuring someone that I’m loyal or that our relationship is secure. When I show up, or when you ask me to show up, you’re going to get the same person every single time. My care for someone doesn’t require constant maintenance or proof. We might not speak for months or even years, and to me, that doesn’t automatically change the relationship. Time and proximity just aren’t how I measure connection. I don’t need constant contact to reassure myself that someone still cares about me or that the relationship still exists. If someone else needs that kind of continual reassurance and proximity, that’s okay, but I also know that isn’t a relationship dynamic where I want to spend my energy.
