It really hits when Boromir repeats, “Our people” to Aragorn. Even though he’s dying, it’s almost as if a calmness comes over him as he knows that the people he loves will still be defended after he’s gone

Boromirs fear for his home and love for his people were twisted by the Ring. For a moment it had him but he broke free and ran to the defense of Merry and Pippin. In the book it was not just 3 arrows but described as “many” with 20 or more orcs laid slain around him. So great was his martial skill the orcs couldn’t best him in hand to hand combat and instead shot at him from a distance. When Aragorn finds him he doesn’t beg for help he tells Aragorn the Hobbits had been taken and which direction they went, admits to trying to take the Ring and apologizes and asks Aragorn to save their home. Aragorn reassures him Gondor would not fall and Boromirs last act in this mortal life was to smile. In battle he sought Redemption, in Death he found Salvation. Through selfless sacrifice Boromirs crime of trying to take the Ring was forgiven and he passes in peace “Out to the Great Sea at night under the stars”

He keeps saying “our people” because Aragorn is claiming Gondor. He’s lifting the burden from stewards. Boromir dies knowing Gondor will have its king again
