@texaswildlifepark: We are heart broken to be making this announcement to everyone. Rick and his vet made the decision to put Nala, our female lion to rest. This decision was incredibly hard to make but it was for Nala and Nala alone. Over the last 6 weeks Nala’s health plummeted for unknown reasons. Through those 6 weeks we had many vets and specialists come out to perform quite literally every test offered to try and understand what was happening. Scans, biopsies, blood tests, urine tests, we were determined to figure this out and we were ready to keep testing until we solved this. Unfortunately time was against us and ultimately Nala did not have any fight left in her. She deteriorated quickly and we realized that her suffering was too much. We said goodbye to our beautiful girl but we are not done fighting. We sent her body for a necropsy and still want an answer. Her labs have all come back great but clearly they’re not detecting what’s wrong. We are hoping to have an answer soon and we will keep everyone updated once we finally figured out what took her from us. We appreciate everyone’s support and love for Nala. She will always stand as a special cat and we will figure out what happened. Nala, we love you and are so grateful for the time you spent with us and we will cherish you forever.
