Toxic positivity is not helpful. Some people end up in a better situation and some people lose everything. Maybe they will eventually be ok but many will not be BETTER and they need supportive people who actually see and acknowledge what they are going through.

lol this is crazy. I got laid off and so many things in my life went awful. It was quite literally the worst 6 months of my life, and getting laid off was only part of it.

there are thousands of engineers recently in past 2 years who have gotten laid off and now will never get another engineering job. kinda sad tbh lots of people switching careers because they can't find work. not just engineers lots of people in tech

Try being 63 and laid off and having no insurance for the first time ever because you can’t find the money to pay your bills,much less insurance. And finding a job at 63 is much harder than the age you are. It is completely different for everyone.

Yep! I lost my last day job Jan 2 2017. I made the same amount of money I made there and at my four other side hustles in two weeks. Been on my own ever since. Doubled my business during lockdown too!

Bestie I work in tech. I had a job with workers I loved and enjoyed working with. I’m getting close to a year and it’s not better. I’m on a contract that’s nearly over and it’s not even something I like. Maybe in another year or two things will be better, it’s not and will not be because of the layoff.
