personally I dont really set a goal. when I am writing a chapter I just go until there is honestly nothing left to say in that chapter or scene.

shorter chapters for me, the maximum is 2k, the shorter the easier to digest, this makes it easy for Readers to fall for the "just one more chapter" and finish a book in one day

My own preference as a reader is anywhere in that range. 2-5k. I do love a good shortish chapter (10-15pages/20ish minutes to read) so I can keep lying to myself and say “ine more chapter” 😂😂😂. As a writer I find I also hover around that window I guess my preferred chapter arc just naturally kicks in even as I’m the one writing it.

minimum 20k words. average 27k. 2nd average 33k words. max 55k words. my stories are 6-13 chapters that are runtime lengthed like how Netflix series are. the reading speed is 300 wpm based which is higher than average reading speed

I am writing my first book and so far my chapters are all over the place. I write until the chapter feels complete, so some are like 1k- 4k, few are around 200-300 words just enough to transition to the next. I dont know if that is good or not... I am just doing what feels right.
