You've gotta remember, Owen also talks about how he was actually starting to feel bad fighting against Seraphites, so much so that it was him who told Abby about the firefly's near California, and how he wanted to leave the WLF. I think Owen gets so much flak for cheating, but morally he's one of the better ones from Abby's group.
