@japaneezi: Day 19/30: The «Existence» Verbs! 🐾🌱 Welcome to Day 19! Today we are tackling a fundamental part of Japanese grammar: how to say «there is» or «I have.». In Japanese, you have to choose your verb based on whether the subject is Living or Non-living. It sounds a bit picky, but it’s a game-changer for sounding natural! 1️⃣ Non-living Things: ~ga Arimasu (~があります) Use Arimasu for objects, plants, and things that don’t move on their own. Even though plants are biologically «alive,» Japanese grammar treats them as stationary objects. • Kuruma ga arimasu. (There is a car.) • Hana ga arimasu. (There is a flower.) • Kane ga arimasu. (I have money.) 2️⃣ Living Things: ~ga Imasu (~がいます) Use Imasu for people and animals. If it’s a sentient being that moves around, it gets this special verb! • Inu ga imasu. (There is a dog.) • Sensei ga imasu. (The teacher is here.) • Kyoudai ga imasu. (I have siblings.) ✨ Make sure to follow @japaneezi with the 30 lessons in 30 days series to master your Japanese journey! #Japanese #LearnJapanese #30daychallenge #creatorsearchinsights #japaneseforbeginners

But a tree is living … 木があります。 it just can’t move by itself.
