If I could only use one active ingredient, it would be a retinoid. I do love azelaic acid but the retinoid is what keeps my clogged pores from coming back and does the most work in my routine. Unfortunately, retinoids have gained the reputation that they are only useful for aging or mature skin. This couldn’t be further from the truth - not only are they one of the most powerful anti-aging ingredients, they’re also the gold standard for acne when it comes to topical solutions. This is why I love them so much - they do a better job for BOTH anti-aging and acne than everything else I used to use combined.
