my Fatty found out I had come home while he was in the back garden and he never ran to the front to get in.... he just kept slamming himself against the kitchen door repeatedly while yowling nonstop so I had to open it as I was worried he might really hurt himself. Fatty refused to leave my side for a few days after that.

I’m sorry but I agree with everyone this is not ok! Cats are family and they have needs just like us, imagine being locked up in a house for days or weeks waiting for someone to return with nothing to do and no one for comfort, they are social animals and need companionship, mental and physical stimulation, they’re not ornaments! Unless you can afford a proper sitter or have family who can look after them you don’t leave them alone like this, you either change your plans or make better plans for your cat

I spent 5 weeks in hospital recently, when I got home, my very very non affectionate cat, ran and jumped on me and buried his head in my neck 😭 and now he's become extra affectionate towards me 😭😭
