@alicesimpson877: In 2022 I got my acute Laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (LPR) under control (and hiatus hernia) into remission and have kept it that way since. I have never returned to 24/7 symptoms and being as unwell as I was. -Diet- Acid Watcher Diet strictly for as long as it took (more details on the diet in my bio and the foods to eat in the healing stage) -Gaviscon advance/acidex advance (needs to have 1000mg sodium alginate) after meals and before bed -Smaller meals more frequently -Stopped eating after 5pm 4-5 hours before bed -Sleep on incline and on left side -Alkaline water/spray back of throat with alkaline water if helps soothe - Manage stress/anxiety and mental health, therapy helped me so much to deal with the trauma of the dysphagia and reflux -Time, it takes TIME to heal reflux from being in acute mode for a long time and committing to the above changes meant I would be better overnight but in time it paid off and gave me my life back. It took me 6-7 months to feel and be well everyday again without symptoms but I'd do it again in a heartbeat to never have to be that ill and in pain again. My reflux had been causing havoc for years so it was not going to be better overnight, at the actue stage your reflux will be bad no matter what you eat and symptoms will be 24/7, think of it like a volcano that has already erupted, so it is not going to be better making changes for a few weeks. As a note of reassurance, I didn't have to live so restricted forever but it was necessary to get it under control initially to then figure out what works for me and how to keep the reflux under control. This stage is so important to get the inflammation under control and get it into remission #hiatushernia #dysphagia #hpylori #acidreflux #LPR
I have GERD and I hiatus hernia and keep loosing my voice and have a very sore throat most of the time. My endoscopy was suspected Barrett’s oesophagus also but now they’ve said it’s just inflammation not Barrett’s. Gaviscon advance is the only thing that helps me meds wise. I get awful anxiety I’ve been so ill for 7 months I’ve lost 28lbs from trying to avoid trigger foods 😥Thank you for the videos they’re a great help ❤️

Do you remember how long you kept taking the gaviscon advance? For the whole of your healing phase?

How did you manage the sleeping on incline? Did you get a mattress wedge or just one of those triangle pillows that prop you up? This is the only thing I’ve not done so far & im not sure I can sleep like that 😭

Doctors do not know how to diagnose this especially when you don't have the classic symptoms like heartburn, voice hoarseness, coughing. My most prominent symptoms are extreme sinusitis that I noticed enhanced so much after trying to put LPR under control. BTW I had allergy tests and I am allergic to nothing. The other thing is terrible, terrible shortness of breath that led to anxiety and insomnia. I also went into the rabbit hole and self-diagnosed. Eliminating acidic food especially caffeine and sleeping at 45 angle and stopping eating as early as possible before bed (I aim for 5 hours) helped a lot! I'm trying to be medicine-free the upcoming period.

I just came across your videos and I really appreciate all the advice from your experience! I had symptoms of spasms in my esophagus for months after recovering from a cervical disc injury. I thought the spasms was the aftermath of my cervical discs being in constant spasm, but for the past couple of months now I’ve experience acid reflux, headache, brain fog, and low grade fever. For the past week, everything seems to be worsening, I’ve developed congestion, a cough, and I can feel my esophagus is irritated with a lot of reflux. Do you think it’s hpolyri? I have a endoscopy scheduled for next week.

I thought I was getting better (5 years now of struggling with it) 😭 and 2 of those years on liquids. Eating has never been normal again. And now it’s flaring up again real bad and I think turning into gastritis. I find it so hard to eat a bland diet when I need sauce / tang to swallow. Wahhhhh!
