I don't agree with this take at all. Ian is not a good person or a good friend, but Bear 100% made his own choices. He didn't have to listen to Ian, and Nikki gave Bear the chance to tell her how he felt and he wimped out. Bear also knew that the real Nikki was trapped and did nothing to help her until things started getting really bad for himself.

Could talk about this movie for hours😭 I don’t like Ian at all, but I still think bear is the villain, deep inside he knew that Nikkis love wasn’t real, but he tried to deny it, he knew all of it was fake and he still kept making up stories to make it seem like they both loved each other. Also saying that Nikki and her dad are close now, which they aren’t and he knows that. “What’s so bad about being with me” yeah he’s the villain😭

if Ian was up-front with bear about his on again off again relationship with Nikki that could have changed bears wish. after all, he did sabotage bear, the waitress "loved" what bear was going to say to nikki at the start.
