Why are peanuts such a high allergen? I’ve always wondered why it’s so common for people to have severe allergies to peanuts.

I don't want to discount the bonding element, but it seems like she could just pump to offer an additional layer of protection.

Your husband. Also, BE PREPARED for baby to be allergic. My husband is allergic and 2 of our 3 kids are allergic! (I didn’t think about the breastfeeding thing though). My kids were allergic by 6-7 months old.

Allergies can develop at any point throughout your life, whether naturally, over-exposure, or induced.

Bambas! Yes! They’re exactly like the toddler puffs but peanut. I see them at Trader Joe’s, but I’m sure they’re available plenty of other places. Countries where that snack is more popular amongst children have lower rates of peanut allergy apparently.

I have a similar question. My 10 year old is anaphylactic to tree nuts. I’m scared to introduce my 2 year old because my 10 year old shouldn’t be around them.

I am so confused. my parents never did that. they never sat in a hospital parking lot while giving me food. they never intentionally introduced me to possible allergens. I did develop a very weird food allergy in my teens (beetroot), but that's it. and I don't know a single person with a peanut allergy. I also grew up in Europe, idk if that has anything to do with it. and roasted peanuts are a party favorite there

Hey hi currently going through this! I send my kids out of the house somewhere with dad or grandma. They eat peanuts they get wiped down and then straight to the bath when they get home.

I ate peanut things my whole life. Never had issues. I got allergy tested at age 23 and they told me I was severely allergic and even prescribed an epi pen. Haven’t had them since out of fear. But it still doesn’t make sense to me.

Does thing work with a shellfish allergy as well? I’m severely allergic and my sons are too. How can we help my grandson to not have the same issues? We haven’t gotten him tested yet.

at what stage do allergies develop? does a baby inside the womb have allergies, and if their mother has something what the baby is allergic to does it effect them?

I chose not to introduce it at all. (I’m also allergic) there are plenty of foods that I have never had that I’m not allergic to. I also only developed my allergy to nuts as an adult while I was pregnant. Introducing the allergen honestly in my option does nothing
