Hey, I’m a teacher, and I’d like to offer a little advice. Please don’t let your child manipulate you into doing responsibilities that she is capable of doing herself. At this stage of her development, it’s crucial to help her build self-reliance, responsibility, and confidence. If she doesn’t want to do her work, please do not do it for her. Your role is to guide, encourage, and support her,not to complete the task on her behalf. If she refuses, hold her accountable by giving appropriate consequences. For example, if she chooses not to do her work, she can lose privileges such as watching TV or using electronic devices until it’s completed. Children learn responsibility by experiencing both the expectations and the consequences of their choices.
