I know the feeling. I was demoted from Lt to patrolman because I "didn't fit the chief's vision". No letters of reprimand, no write ups. I was replaced by an officer with only 3 years of experience

Should have been verbal counseling then written reprimand then suspension before jumping right to firing. He is going to win that lawsuit. That is so wild it’s a minor offense at best.

i got demoted from motors to court room security one time, never got an answer why or what i did just was told to report there and turn in my motor that was almost 20 yrs ago, still don’t know why it happened

Maryland a county police department suspended an officer for having an oath keepers baseball hat in his car. It was reported by a citizen that seen it and didn’t like it. So the department acted on the persons hurt feelings. Unbelievable

Department is local to me. One of the highest paid around and can’t keep anyone. Known for being toxic. Not a surprise at all. Look into why the last few chiefs were forced out…. Rules for thee, not for me.

It’s hard enough hiring good police candidates nowadays. Feels like scraping the bottom of the barrel at times. And then you have PDs just pissing away good officers.

You’d think there would be more to this. Unclear how a ball cap and long sleeves deserves termination? Plenty of officers do this to protect from the sun. Seems to be a stupid way for a city to gain attention and end up paying out a ton of money.

I almost had to go to arbitration for taking my hat off while searching a vehicle. I shit you not. I was “out of uniform” end quote. Despite being in the act of looking under a seat in a vehicle, hat was taken off and placed on the roof. I actually got a proactive narcotics seizure from the stop and thought that was what the Lt wanted to talk about. I thought he was joking until the union rep called me about sitting down to have a chat, I said yes. Let me see someone explain to me how to have x-ray vision while conducting a search during a proactive stop.
