@nursingstudentavenger: #edutokcontest Electrolytes NCLEX review: don’t memorize random food lists. Focus on what NCLEX tests — foods that increase the electrolyte, ECG changes, and safety priorities. Potassium affects the heart and is never given IV push. Low calcium can cause positive Trousseau’s and Chvostek’s signs. Magnesium toxicity requires monitoring respirations, DTRs, urine output, and having calcium gluconate available. Phosphorus has an inverse relationship with calcium. #nclexrn #nclexstudytips #nclextips #nursingstudentavenger #edutoknursing #nursingfundamentals

My Nutrition in Nursing clinical instructor taught us that: more food processing done = higher sodium content (e.g. canned foods, fermented foods, etc.) while the less food processing done = higher Potassium content (e.g. whole foods, fruits such as avocado and banana).
