The only advantage of a steam machine is the small size. You can absolutely blow its specs out of the water for cheaper if you’re not restricted by that.

I am in the process of buying my own Steam Machine and I bought the Densium 4 Plus V2 cade. i's a 5.49L case but it can fit up to a RX 9600 XT or a 5060 Ti (both 16 GB cards)!

If you are to make your own steam machine, nothing says it has to be a small cube. You could easily build it in a HTPC case like the Silverstone GD08 and use standard ATX part.

I feel like getting a case that is as big as an Xbox Series X still hits the spirit of what the Steam Machine was going for because the point was a console like look and it's literally a console.

a simple browse thru pc part picker will tell you. its hard asf and whatever config you end up with is gonna cost the same or more with blood, sweat & tears involved also people assume everyone lives near a microcenter or atleast in US, so yea saying i can build my own is alot easier said than done

I also built in a K39 with a Zotac 5060 Solo. Love it, and it's small enough to travel with.

5950x 6600xt 2tb 32gb ram. is it small??? Yes. steam machine small no. Mostly used parts. Right around $800 9060xt on the way and still cheaper than the steam machine
