@thesocialsummers: I still can’t believe this happened. My girls (1 & 3) were at the library dancing with the librarians, laughing, and yes... getting a little loud for a minute because they’re toddlers. A stranger looked at me while I was checking out books and said, “Sounds like they need a spanking.” No, they don’t. Children don’t learn emotional regulation because they’re afraid of being hit. They learn because someone consistently teaches them, models it, and gives them room to grow. My oldest listened when I redirected her. My one-year-old made noise because... she’s ONE. Parenting without physical punishment isn’t “soft.” It takes patience, consistency, and a whole lot more self-control than reacting out of frustration. And if your advice to every overwhelmed parent is “just spank them,” maybe the advice isn’t as helpful as you think. #gentleparenting #respectfulparenting #generationalhealing #toddlermom #raisingthefuture
