It's NOT ENTIRELY down to Netanyahu. His actions and the actions of the Israeli government in the past few years have brought to light so much! Including all of the other crimes, how much of the US government is bought and paid by AIPAC (which essentially ends up getting money from the US taxpayers), and that it is an apartheid ethni-religious state and much more that most of us didn't really know in depth. Add those to the fact that Americans have been consistently getting any kind of benefits or services cut to the bone while we are funding goods & services for the Israeli people that we don't get here because "we can afford it !" Obviously the war crimes are the main reason. But this whole episode has educated the American people about Israel and about our relationship with Israel and we want nothing to do with it. We certainly don't want to be funding everything in Israel from which they take a tiny percentagel and turn around and use it to fund the bribes that go to members of our own government from Israel and it's related parties:
