Tell me about it! I make $27CAD an hour here in Canada and I’m moving to the USA this fall. My new job there pays me $27.90USD (same company). I converted it for fun and it equals $39.20 CAD. Plus my rent is half the price, I have full medical coverage covered by my company, my car insurance is half the price, my phone bill is almost half the price, I pay less taxes, there is no state tax where I’m going…. I’m like…….. what have I even been doing up here lol.

I live half the time in the US half in Canada, people are so delusional if they think groceries etc are significantly cheaper in the US any more. My electric bill in the US is $400 a month, in Canada it’s $70 😂

When I moved from US to Canada, my nursing license and years of experience based on the nursing union pay scale put me at the exact same $/hour. At first I thought, cool nothing changes. Then I remembered the exchange rate and then the cost of living here in Canada is wildly more expensive. My first grocery trip was an eye opening experience. Sometimes I still have to convert to USDnin my head to see if something is worth the price in general but with my salary being the exact same, it wouldn’t matter I suppose. It’s all very expensive. Gas? Don’t get me started! California prices!

Life hack: if your salary is in USD get a U.S. credit card with no foreign exchange fee and just use it in Canada, way better then exchanging cash
