@bishop_barron: Let the Word of God Take Root in You - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon - Friends, on this Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, we continue our reading of the Gospel of Matthew. In chapter 13, Jesus gives a series of seven very memorable parables, the first four having to do with the growth of the kingdom of God. The first of these, which we’re reading from today, is the parable of the sower. What do we hear? That it’s never a question of God being reticent or holding back his grace. The problem comes from our side: We block the Word of God, setting up obstacles to it that prevent it from taking root. There’s the drama, if you want, of the spiritual life.

Thank you bishop. We can’t fight the fight alone. Jesus has our backs, we have to have faith in that. The Holy Spirit is with us and will help us where we are failing Him.

I am a child of the 80's and went to Catholic schools and was only basically ever taught that 'bland indifferentism,' nothing about tradition at all. It took me until my late 30's and 40's in doing my own research and learning that I realized I was 'robbed,' for lack of a better term, of so much beauty, richness, and tradition in my faith and my life. Thank God, I was able to discover it, deepen my roots, now share it with my children, and find a parish more in tune with it.
