@steven: Have women been squatting wrong? Dr Stephanie Estima shares why squats feel different for women: it's NOT your form, it's your anatomy. Women have a wider, shallower pelvis and a bigger Q-angle than men, which is why the standard "feet hip-width, toes forward" cue often feels off. Here's how she squats instead. #womenshealth #Fitness #wellness #gym #thediaryofaceo
THIS. I always have to turn out a little bit in order to properly squat. If I do what it’s textbook, it hurts so bad in my hips

Hip width apart was never a good enough cue. For both women and men, do an explosive jump and the stance you land with would be how wide your feet want to be for a strong squat.

I can attest to the explanation! It always felt more comfortable for me that way to get more ROM and stabilization. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Not only that - but human hips are also not symmetrical in the same body. So one leg might need a slightly different stance to get the best force production.

This is such an important reminder that women are not just “small men.” Our anatomy, hormones and physiology matter. The same advice doesn’t work for everyone. That’s exactly why we need to ask better questions instead of forcing one-size-fits-all solutions. I explore this approach throughout my book Menopause or Something Else?, available on Amazon.

Lack of Dorsiflexion will also affect your ability to squat properly as well.

traditional queuing is what feels good for your body. i tell everyone to do a jump squat and where they land is where they should start and just from there
