Cows as well as elephants are deeply emotional animals that experience complex grief. Both species form intense social bonds, making the loss of a companion or baby highly distressing. I’ve actually seen a cow cry and literally hyperventilate to the loss of her baby at a friends farm 😢

This is how they get when they take calves away from their mum so that they can be milked or so where calves are taken to eat it’s awful. The cows really do grieve and they chased after their babies when they’re being taken away it’s very cruel.
