People don't truly understand. Nurses are being made more and more responsible while given less and less. Its scary. When you have a 7:1 patient ratio when safe is considered 4:1, you can't give safe care even if you try.

A friend of mine is at this hospital, trying to recover from esophageal gastric junction surgery. He is not happy with the nurses who are screaming and yelling outside his window. He has no peace at a time when he needs peace.

Nurse John called it "Profit Staffing" and he is absolutely right. I haven't forgotten the CEOs who went to Congress wanting to cap nurses' pay. As an example, HCA is worth over 92 billion dollars.

as a patient of BWH, an employee of MGB and have multiple family members who are BWH nurses I stand firmly with them. i am proud of them for striking it needed to happen.
