Lithuanian farewell word "sudie" also means "with god" - "su dievu"

in Bavarian German a common word for goodbye is "Pfiati" (spelling and pronunciation may differ from region to region) which means "möge Gott dich führe/Gott führe dich" - "May good lead you". I don't think many people know since you really cannot guess from the word itself

Why is the German "auf Wiedersehen" or the Dutch "Tot ziens" religious? Surely it means nothing more than "until we see each other again"?

I’m Australian & just say Hoo Roo. The ‘H’ is pretty silent when spoken. Pretty sure it means nothing but bye in bogan 😅
