Think about being in a room with a torch. You can see the torch and the things it shines on, but you usually can’t see the beam itself unless there is dust, smoke, or mist in the air.😳

Space is an almost perfect vacuum, meaning there is virtually no matter, dust, or air to reflect or scatter sunlight. Light is invisible while traveling. We only see it when photons bounce off objects or particles and directly enter our eyes.

This is stupid. If u take a flashlight and turn it on in the dark it will only reflect light off an object. Shine it into the sky and it does not reflect anything. Space is so vast that the sun can only reflect light from planets that it can reach

Imagine you’re in a completely dark room with a flashlight. You can see the flashlight and the wall it shines on, but you can’t see the light itself as it travels through the air. You only see the beam if there’s dust, smoke, or fog for the light to bounce off.
Space is the same. The Sun shines everywhere, but space is almost empty, so there’s nothing for the light to bounce off. That’s why space looks black, even though sunlight is passing through it.
