I was 8 pounds overweight at 12 years old and my pediatrician asked me, “Don’t you want to look and feel pretty in a bikini by the time you’re 15?” I was so physically active and ate just like everyone around me. I have yet to ever wear a bikini and I’m 32.

a boy said something behind my back about my weight in middle school and my friends overheard it and went to the guidance counselor, she brought us all in for a meeting and they wouldn’t say what he said to my face so the counselor made me leave so my friends could tell her what he said while I sat in the hall. that was 20 years ago and to this day I still think about it, those things really stick in your formative years
