Pro tip: when you shoot in 9:16 aspect ratio Apple actually captures it in 3:4 but auto crops it to 9:16. Meaning, there's more photo available on the left and right you're not seeing. So do this BEFORE you do any other editing: tap Edit > Crop > Format > Original. This changes the format to the original 3:4 which gives you a wider photo to work with. This is incredibly useful if you need to crop the photo differently (think of all the times you wanted to slide a picture more to the right or left, but ran out of actual picture to do so.) Once you're done editing, you can crop the photo to any format including 9:16 and 1:1 (square) without having to take additional photos in those specific formats. Note: this can only be done on the phone the photo was shot with. If you transfer, send, or share the photos to someone else before you do this, they will be unable to do it.
