@taaliavess: FTD is one of the most devastating, cruel, and life-altering diseases I've ever heard of. My mom was diagnosed with a rare early onset dementia called Frontotemporal dementia at 62 years old. FTD strips away everything that make you, you. It took several years for her to receive the correct diagnosis because so many medical professionals are still unfamiliar with FTD and how to recognize its symptoms. When we were given these results they said she has a year and there was nothing else they could do. No guidance, medication, resources, nothing. This disease doesn't only affect the person living with it. It changes the lives of their family, friends, caregivers, and everyone around them forever. I will continue to research, learn, educate others, raise awareness, and help however I can. The signs and symptoms of FTD deserve to be recognized earlier, and families deserve more information, support, and understanding. Sending so much love and strength to everyone in the FTD community. You are not alone. #FTD #FrontotemporalDementia #FTDAwareness #FTDCaregiver #Dementia

My dad was initially diagnosed with FTD back in 2020, and it was definitely hard seeing him go through those changes. He passed away three years later. Spend as much time with her as you can.

I'm so sorry. I stayed with my fiance's mother in her last weeks bc he couldn't miss work. My heart goes out to you, I know you have already had to start a grieving process and that this is one of the most unfair experiences any person could have. I also know that no matter what your mother knows you are with her and feels safe in that. It may not always be expressed by her, but some things are just innate in that way. Praying for both of you 🙏

My husband has FTD/ALS and my mom shows similar behavioral symptoms but is undiagnosed. It’s a brutal disease. Have you found a good support group? I’ve found getting with people and caregivers experiencing this with a loved one is really helpful emotionally. They just get it. I’m so very sorry you’re going through this, too.

This sucks. I want you to know that you are strong and this will always suck. Please make sure to take time to rest and take care of yourself as well. If you need to take time away from her don’t hate yourself. If you need anything ask us. We will do our best to help in anyway we can.
