The Luftwaffe pilots that did the first bombing raid on the UK over Queensferry and Rosyth in Scotland got full military honours as well, the local ferry captain was given a military cross from a pilot he pulled from the river.

Excuse me for not remembering the ship or her captain, but a kamikaze flew into an American ship. The pilot's body was ejected and landed on deck. The captain said this man is dead, and is no longer the enemy. The pilot was given a proper burial.
