If this video was directed at me, I think you’ve misunderstood my point. I never said women shouldn’t be wary or prioritize their safety. Those are completely reasonable responses in a patriarchal society. What I questioned was something different: the idea that a man wanting sex early, or asking whether you might want it too, is inherently manipulative, predatory, or evidence that he doesn’t see you as a human being. My point is that women don’t all relate to sex the same way. Some want sex after months, some after weeks, some after one good date. None of those boundaries is objectively more feminist or more respectful than another. What starts resembling purity culture to me is when we stop saying “this isn’t for me” and start saying “a good man wouldn’t even ask” or “wanting sex this early is inherently wrong.” Those are two very different claims.
