I honestly was so lonely when I lived in Lagos - no one was really open to really making friends.

everywhere there's black ppl, there's other black telling you not to trust them, and Nigeria takes it to a different level.

I have never had issues with other Nigerians especially yorubas but you’re right. Nigerians do not like other Nigerians 💀

I hate this “we” thing when talking about Nigeria. The “we” ideology covers up the differences among Nigerians. The North is culturally different from the South. Nigeria is a country of many nations and many levels of consciousness. Some groups are more invasive, while others are more welcoming and open minded.
Many Muslims do not trust Christians, and vice versa. Some Yoruba do not trust Fulani or Igbo, and vice versa. This is the reality across the entire continent, and maybe even the world.
I think Nigerians just take a lot of things personally and broadcast them to the world. The first time I was scammed, it happened in America, and it wasn’t by a Black person or a Nigerian.
Everyone has their own circle of people they trust and rely on. We just have to find ours. I’ve met good Nigerians and bad Nigerians, just as I’ve met good and bad people in general. It’s a human problem.
Certain realities bring out different versions of us. Everyone is really just trying to survive at the end of the day. Colonialism has contributed negatively.
