I saw a comment that said there are enough people and tax brackets for all makeup brands to succeed. Charlotte should have said that inspired brands have flattered her and she was happy other brands could achieve affordable looks for those who cannot afford her brand. And she could have then pointed out the ingredient differences to explain why her prices are luxury pricing. It would have way more tasteful than what she said!’

Makeup has the HIGHEST profit margin. Drug store like mco, essence, etc. just keep their products priced exactly where they should be. “Luxury” brands are just ripping you off. It’s all the same. Most of them use the same factories too!!

I worked at Sephora for 6 years and have found affordable brands that perform WAY better than high end. People can’t tell whether you got YSL on your face vs Mabelline

It’s such a very outdated take of the beauty industry too. When I was younger I was always told to splurge on face products since the drugstore brands are low quality, but now brands are the same, if not better to keep up with consumerism. I love dupes

While I do think we use the word “dupe” too loosely, I’m 100% in favor of drugstore over luxury. A true dupe would be the rare beauty and maybeline- same item just paying for name.
