@glisswellness: These are our top 5 lessons for women in their 40s: 👉 It's hard to know you're in perimenopause. If you suddenly start feeling "off" with symptoms you can't quite explain, or you just don’t feel like yourself (physically or emotionally), there's a good chance perimenopause is behind it. 👉 Almost any symptom is fair game. Hot flashes and vaginal dryness are common, but perimenopause can show up less obvious ways too, like tongue numbness, itchy skin, brain fog, joint aches, or mood changes. 👉 The age range is wider than most people think. It's completely normal to start noticing symptoms in your late 30s, years before most people expect it. Starting early doesn't mean anything is wrong! 👉 By definition, perimenopause starts while you're still getting your period ("peri" means "around" or "near"). Your cycle might become irregular, heavier or less predictable, but as long as you're still having periods, you're in perimenopause, not menopause. 👉 Hormone therapy is not birth control. HRT is designed to manage symptoms like hot flashes, mood changes and sleep disruption, but it doesn't reliably prevent ovulation. If you're still getting periods and don't want to get pregnant, you need a separate method of contraception.
