This isnt really a uniform, its more of a dress code. A uniform means everyone wears the same thing, so they look... uniform... Having students wear shirts and pants in certain colors and styles but letting them pick the type, brand and colour isn't a uniform, cos they arent going to look uniform, especially considering the whole reason for a uniform is so that all kids wear the same clothes removing the stigma of branding and fashion trends. Your dress code still allows that.

THIS. IS. A. ‘SOFT’. UNIFORM. i went to a private school w uniform - could only where their brand. when to a public school w uniform - could where what matched the required attire. went to a public school without uniform - it’s free range within code. there’s levels. this isn’t dress code, this is (likely) a public uniform, & it needs to stretch forms and fabrics so that other body shapes or classes of individuals can acquire their school clothes.
