This is so true! Freshman year at a top Ivy, the new students were literally expressing a kind of vulnerable exhausted relief at finally being around people as smart as them, because they could finally just relax and be themselves, whereas in high school and earlier they had been treated as weird.

Another thing is that it takes a certain amount of intelligence to pick up the fact that your counterpart has insane raw intellectual talent. A lot of folks wouldn’t know unless it was very explicitly demonstrated.

MIT ain't THAT special. Go work in PE, IB, specialized part of the Gov't or Military (especially classified workd) and you'll see the same.

Don’t think much of MIT , they all work for entrepreneurs and investors, there’s only one IQ test, how much money you have ,amongst academic people I have found the med school and law school students are the smartest cause they make the most money after graduation ,if you don’t include athletes. The top dogs which are the entrepreneurs and investors ,may or may not have finished college.
