I've been stocking up food since the pandemic on a rotation. I never let my cabinets, frig or freezer get empty. You may want to invest in a freezer and shop big box stores.

Livestock eats corn, corn is a heavy feeder. That alone will hurt production, but there’s also the fuel costs and the fact that so much of our food is shipped thousands of miles. Find small local farms to buy from directly if you can. They may be able to keep costs a little lower since they aren’t shipping.

I’m a part of a local CSA, where I get 20 lbs of beef/pork and 10 lbs of chicken monthly. My freezers (yes, multiple) are pretty packed…but I renewed my subscription due to fear of the cost going up if I wait.

The farm outside of my parents backyard in Indiana is usually full of corn or soybeans. This year nothing but geese and standing water.
