That’s interesting. Do they not first stabilize the pt in resus before transferring to ICU? I’m a RN in my provinces trauma centre and all the traumas come straight to the ER. The really bad traumas either get stabilized and scanned then wait in resus until an ICU bed or the OR is ready, or they go straight to the OR.

I’m new grad in acute icu, in my hospital after a month of being released(working alone) you receive admission, that day I was newly released maybe 3 weeks i received admission the patient is 31week pregnant and had uterine rupture and she arrested multiple time in ER shifted to us at 8pm and let me tell you it was CHAOTIC, we activated massive blood transfusions 4 times and in between patient coded twice everyone in the unit was in my room blood everywhere and god bless my coworkers they helped me ALOT i was running I don’t know what should I do unfortunately patient passed away at almost 2am all this time i was standing on my feet I don’t know what should I do, i was sobbing during the postmortem care it’s was my first time, till this day I’m traumatized during code time i zone out, but i hope its gets better as you said 🥲🙏🏻

I worked IMC for 4 years (2 of which were cardiac IMC and a step down unit from where I work now) I’ve worked CVSICU for almost a year now and lemme tell you it’s not just being a new grad, I felt like a fucking idiot even though I’d been a nurse for 4 years 🤡

6 months into the MICU and I feel so incredibly incompetent, I cannot wait to get to the point of feeling more comfortable. So many days I just want to quit 😭

I needed this, I’ve been a nurse a year and just transferred to ICU and I feel brand new again. I’m so nervous when an emergency happens. I’ve only ever been in two rapids on my own at my last unit
