I'm a firm believer that if the EPA didn't exist. Most cars would get 40-50mpg and emit the same amount of pollution. That's my conspiracy.

No oil consumption is the only normal. Oil is suppose to lubricate. Not burn.

it's a balancing act. it's not just fuel mileage, but NOx emission levels. higher compression/temperature will give better mileage, but worse NOx.

I have a 2018 Subaru outback & only do my regular oil changes every 5000 miles or so. Never have to add oil

How can they in good conscience be telling Toyota owners to do an oil change every 10k miles while using synthetic?

Lighter oils, tighter tolerances, smoother cylinder wall crosshatching, PCV/Oil Traps sucking oil through the intake manifold into the combustion chamber. All to beat EPA/CAFE standards 🤦

Y’all gonna badmouth Nissan again but none of my Nissans use a cord in 5000 miles. None of them. I got a Tighten Rd., Marano a frontier and a Sentra. None of them all original transmissions all over 100,000 miles you can say as bad as things you want about Nissan, but they last.

My car called for 0w20 and burned 1 quart every 1500 miles. Swapped to 5w30 oil consumption is practically nonexistent. Lost a little fuel economy but worth it.
