@master.sharphook: To catch Trevally from the shores of Mauritius, focus your efforts around deep reef passes, rocky points, and areas with churning white water like Baie du Cap, Albion Cliffs, or the currents of Le Morne. The best strategy is to fish during sunrise, sunset, or a strong incoming high tide when these predators move into the shallows to hunt. Use a long 9-to-11-foot shore-casting rod to launch heavy topwater poppers or sinking stickbaits past the breaking waves, retrieving them rapidly with aggressive rod sweeps to trigger violent strikes. Because Trevally fight powerfully and immediately dive for cover, a heavy-duty spinning reel loaded with 50lb to 60lb braid and a thick 100lb leader is absolutely necessary to prevent sharp coral rocks from cutting your line.
