(I'm)Lysdexic :
Roughly seventeen years ago, two friends and I used to go on these long, spontaneous night walks—trekking up mountains and through caves for hours.
One night around 3:00 AM, we were walking along a desolate dirt road lined with high embankments on both sides, surrounded by miles of empty fields. Suddenly, a low, intense humming started vibrating from over the embankment. It grew into a rumble so heavy you could actually feel the air pressure shift around you.
At the exact same time, a searingly bright, magnesium-white glow exploded over the ridge, lighting up the sky like mid-day.
Driven by adrenaline, one of my friends scrambled up the bank to look over. The second he reached the top, it instantly cut out. The light vanished, the rumbling stopped dead, and the night went completely silent.
It’s been nearly two decades, and I still haven't found a rational explanation for what happened that night.
