@m0stlysapien: Please update your phone. It is better for your phone to be a bit slower than to have malware! #Tech #TechTips #smartphones #cybersecurity
Why are you arguing for planned obsolescence? Why are you defending capitalism?

They can backport only the security patches without the new features that slow down the phone

My Motorola phone for a big update. It just got larded over with AI garbage that functionally ruined it. It slowed the phone way down and crushed battery life.

The reason they do this btw is cause they used to slow ur phone down on purpose with future updates to preserve battery life but got sued cause people didn’t understand why they were doing that so now they complain they won and their phone dies too fast

it's crazy to me when people say "no no they literally turned your processer DOWN because they wanna make your phone BETTER!! not worse! they got sued and effectively lost but that's not because anyone was right! obviously big company with infinite resources was right, which is why they didn't use those resources or power to make that known!" it makes no sense

Does this mean I should download iOS 26? I don’t want my battery life to worsen

I have a serious question. I have a samsung galaxy phone, and ive hesrd the next update (oneUI 9.0 i think) pushes ai into every nook and cranny. This is why I havent updated my phone in a few weeks. I was under the impression that updating would just allow those ai features to be implemented.

That’s great and all. However, I’m totally down to risk awful malware and viruses before I allow starlink on my iPhone.

I've heard a great analogy for this.
imagine a castle being built. along the way the builders of that castle made some mistakes, which they didn't realize/notice them. later on, attackers try to find the mistakes the builders made, and if they do, the attacker can use that mistake to attack the castle in some way. the guards do the same thing, but instead of attacking the castle, they report the mistake to the builders, which then the builders fix the mistake and pay the guards as a thanks.
